Why does my FTP client fail to connect?

1. Your firewall could be blocking it.
2. Make sure you have the IP address in your welcome email for host name (only the numbers don’t add ftp, www or anything else).
3. Make sure your username and password are the same as your control panel username and password.
4. Some FTP programs require a path in order to connect. Your path would be /home/YOURUSERNAME/public_html

Why am I not allowed to upload files?

Make sure you are uploading to the right web directory, which is inside the public_html or www folder. If you’re sure you’re uploading to the right folder, you are probably out of disk space.

We recommend downloading FileZilla. It’s free for anyone and you can click here to get it right now.

My pages aren’t being updated when I upload

When you upload new or changed pages, the changes should be instantaneous. If they aren’t, please follow the steps below to determine the reasons.

1. Be sure you are uploading you web page files into the /public_html. MS Frontpage users will not need to worry about this. When publishing or editing with FrontPage, it will automatically place the folders in the correct folder.

2. Try pressing Reload. If that doesn’t work, try Shift+Reload to bring up the new page.

3. In your web browser, type http://www.your-domain.com/cpanel/. You should see a password box come up. If you don’t, then your domain may still be pointed at your old provider and you must move them to our DNS/nameservers:

ns1.efuzone.com
ns2.efuzone.com
or
ns9.efuzone.com
ns10.efuzone.com

4. If you still haven’t solved the problem: In your Control Panel (yourdomain.com/cpanel), go into your “File Manager”, and click on the WWW folder. The WWW folder is where all of your web page files should be.

- Find the file that you believe you have changed but is not coming up with the new information and click on it.

- View the file, and see if it is in fact the new file. If it’s still has the old page information, then your software didn’t upload the file or didn’t upload to the correct directory. You should consult your software help material for upload help.

My FTP is really slow or disconnects often. Why?

Go into your FTP options and see if passive mode is checked ,if it is, uncheck it. If it is not checked, try checking it. This should solve your problem, assuming the issue is not with your actual connection to the Internet.

How to Use Web FTP / browser-based FTP – IE?

How to use browser-based FTP (also known as WebFTP or Web FTP) in Internet Explorer:

Input one of the following URLs into your Address Bar, replacing the credentials listed with your account information:

ftp://username:password@serverIPaddress/

- or -

ftp://username:password@domain.com/

*NOTE*: This will not work with additionally created FTP accounts or addon domain FTP accounts, as the browser will not accept two @ symbols in the URL. You must use an FTP program for these accounts.

If you are behind a router, please enable passive FTP mode.

Can I view my site even though my domain’s name servers haven’t propagated yet?

Can you change my DNS for me?

If you didn’t purchase your domain from us, we are not able to change the DNS since we don’t have control over the domain. Please contact the place you bought it from and provide them with the name servers in your welcome email and they should be able to make the changes for you. From most domain registrars, you can do this yourself using the company’s control panel.

How do I change my DNS?

Changing DNS

Any time you make a DNS (domain name server) change it takes around 24-48 hours to complete. During this proprogation time routers all over the world are updating their cache. This causes your site to be up and down randomly during the first 48 hours for different people at different times. Think of dns like a zip code. If you don’t put a zip code on your mail the post office doesn’t know where to send it. Domains are the same way if they don’t have the DNS the internet doesn’t know what server to send your request to.

Making The Changes

Every registar has a different procedure for changing your domains DNS, however they are all done basically the same way. The welcome email you received from us provides you with the name servers you need to change your domain to. You will then take those name servers to wherever you bought your domain, and fill them in for your domain name.

Your name servers should look something like…

    * ns1.efuzone.com
    * ns2.efuzone.com

       or

    * ns9.efuzone.com
    * ns10.efuzone.com

Note: If you can’t figure out how to change your sites dns contact whomever or wherever you bought your domain name from. They will be able to assist you in making the changes or direct you to their faq on how it’s done.

How To Choose A Good Domain Name?

Call it a “dot-com name,” a URL, or a domain. Whatever you call it, it’s the cornerstone of your online presence, and we make getting one easy. Simply enter the name you want in the search field above, and we’ll tell you instantly whether the name is available. I bought my domain from eFuZone.com. How do I make DNS changes?

If you bought your domain from us at time of signup, we will automatically do the DNS changes for you. If you would like your DNS changed or it’s been 48 hours and you don’t believe we did the DNS changes for you, please contact us using our HelpDesk.

Where can I view what DNS my site is currently using?

If would like to know where you can check what DNS your site is currently using and/or to whom the domain is registered, simply do the following:

1. Go to http://www.domaintools.com/
2. In the field that says “Whois Lookup”, enter your domain name.
3. Click “Submit.”
4. The results will show the DNS your site is using along with information about to whom your domain is registered.

NOTE: If you just recently made changes what is displayed might be old information.

Where do I go to manage the domain I purchased from you?

You can login to your client area by going to https://www.efuzone.com/client/clientarea.php and going to the Domain Section of your profile to view and manage your domain.

Error Page Codes

What are Error Codes?

These numbered error codes are how the Web server tells the user about a status or error encountered. There are many different error codes that a server can deliver, but these are a few of the more common codes.

401 – Unauthorized
Access to the URL resource requires user authentication which 1) has not yet been provided or 2) which has been provided but failed authorization tests. This is commonly known as “HTTP Basic Authentication”. Unless you have a good reason to do so, it is not recommended to redirect a 401 error.

403 – Forbidden
The request was a legal request, but the server is refusing to respond to it. Unlike a 401 Unauthorized response, authenticating will make no difference. This is usually due to a scripting or permission(s) issue.

404 – Not Found
This response code indicates that the client was able to communicate with the server but either the server could not find what was requested, or it was configured not to fulfill the request and not to reveal the reason. Error 404 should not be confused with “server not found” or similar errors, in which a connection to the destination server cannot be made at all.

500 – Internal Server Error
Your Web server encountered an unexpected condition that prevented it from fulfilling the request by the client (e.g. your Web browser) for access to the requested URL. This is a ‘catch-all’ error generated by your Web server. Basically something has gone wrong, but the server can not be more specific about the error condition in its response to the client.

What are custom Error Code pages?

Instead of seeing the default error message, you can create your own error pages by adding special command lines to a .htaccess (pronounced dot h t access) file. This file typically lives in the /public_html/ directory in your account. Or if you have add-on domains, it lives in /public_html/{add-on domain}/. You may already have one in there. If that is the case, then you can just add these lines to it. Otherwise, you can just create a new, empty, .htaccess file to add these lines to it.

The format for an ErrorDocument statement in a .htaccess file follows:

ErrorDocument CODE URL

The CODE refers to the error code you wish to redirect (403, 404, 500, etc) and URL refers to the location of the file you would like displayed. The URL can either be a URL-Path (e.g. /errors/404.html) or a full URL (e.g. http://www.example.com/404.html). For an addon domain or subdomain the error page path must be a full URL.

Examples

If you have created a 404.shtml and uploaded it to the root directory of your domain example.com, page your .htaccess file would have a line like this:

ErrorDocument 404 http://www.example.com/404.shtml

If you wanted to use a 404.php script file you have written it would look like this:

ErrorDocument 404 http://www.example.com/404.php

If you would like people to be redirected to the homepage when they reach a non-existent page, you could use a line like this:

ErrorDocument 404 http://www.example.com/

A .htaccess file controls the directory in which it sits, and all subdirectories. However, by placing additional .htaccess files in the subdirectories, other .htaccess files can be overruled.
